Rendered in exuberant impasto, this riverside panorama presents a historic citadel as if recalled through a sun-warmed memory. Broad, knife-sculpted strokes build terracotta roofs and lofty towers, their verticality puncturing a serene, sky-blue expanse. The palette pairs warm ochres and rusts with cool aquas and pearly grays, generating a lively contrast that animates reflected light on the river. Foreground reflections are sketched with playful abstraction, creating shallow depth that invites the eye along the curve of the bank. The handling suggests Impressionist plein-air sensibility tempered by Post-Impressionist bravura, an affectionate, slightly witty ode to urban nostalgia.
