Sail of Light

This slender vertical seascape offers a solitary cutter on a glassy sea, painted in airy pastels and generous impasto. The mast and rigging are drawn with fine, calligraphic strokes, while the sail becomes a luminous cascade of buttery yellow that seems to pour from the heavens. Reflections are modeled with a palette knife, their gold and white strokes skimming the water like fragments of light. The composition balances intimacy and monumentality, invoking Impressionist attentiveness to atmosphere alongside contemporary gestural freedom. Executed with confident, economical marks, the work rewards close inspection of texture and depth, a playful yet noble meditation on navigation, light, and quiet resolve.
