Artur Płachta , 2026

40×60 cm

Oil on canvas

This exuberant canvas presents a whimsical tandem ride across a sunlit riverscape, an affectionate tableau of motion and mischief. Two elongated figures, rendered with jaunty stripes and patchwork garments, propel a scarlet bicycle through a field of textured impasto grass, while a constellation of hot air balloons punctuates a cloud-streaked sky. The artist balances warm ochres and crimson costumes against cool cerulean and pearly whites, creating crisp contrast and a buoyant sense of depth. Bold brushwork and palette-knife layering confer tactile relief and lively cadence, evoking folk naïf and a touch of modern primitivism. The overall effect is playful, intimate, and memorably theatrical.
