About event

Jarosław Tarnowski’s work is a declaration of love – personal, tender, deeply rooted in the fabric of a city the artist knows like the back of his hand. Krakow is not merely a subject; it is a co-protagonist, a place of memory, a living organism pulsating with emotion, light, and shadow. The exhibition “City Painted with the Heart” is a story about a relationship with a space that becomes home – not by virtue of residence, but by the need for closeness. Tarnowski doesn’t document – he celebrates. His paintings are full of the soft light of mornings along the Vistula River, saturated with the melancholy of empty streets at dusk, vibrant with color and the warmth of human presence. This is Krakow seen through the heart – sentimental but not nostalgic; attentive but not idealizing.

The artist’s sensitivity is evident in his framing, compositional discipline, and painterly tenderness. Every scene—even the most everyday—become a meditation on what is permanent and yet elusive. Tarnowski freezes time—not to hold it forever, but to experience it more deeply. Gallery AHG36, embedded in the fabric of the city, provides a natural setting for this exhibition. Here, Tarnowski’s paintings find their echo—in walls that have heard many stories, in a frame that emphasizes the importance of the gaze. The exhibition doesn’t so much showcase Krakow as allow us to experience it anew—to look at familiar corners as if they were a poem read in a whisper. It’s an invitation to stroll not only through the city but also into our own inner self—somewhere between awe and gratitude.
